Ask For Directions

UPDATE - April 10, 2015: The Manila Commuter is now on Facebook! If you would like a more interactive experience in both asking for directions or giving advice to other commuters, please visit and join The Manila Commuter FB Group.

Need to find directions on how to get to a particular location using public transport, but can't find it here? Simply place a comment below, asking for the directions you need!

This page allows you to specifically ask for directions so that someone who knows can answer you. That someone could be me, or it could be another visitor who knows how to commute there.

Eventually, the directions given will form part of the knowledge base of the site, to help other commuters in the future who may need to go to the same place as you.

As a guideline, please limit your request for directions to within Metro Manila or with Metro Manila as a starting point or destination. Please also allow some lead time for someone to answer.

Submit Directions

UPDATE - April 10, 2015: The Manila Commuter is now on Facebook! If you would like a more interactive experience in both asking for directions or giving advice to other commuters, please visit and join The Manila Commuter FB Group.
_______________________________

There are two ways you could submit directions:

1. Post a comment; or
2. Send an email to themanilacommuter at gmail.com (just substitute the "at" with "@")

Simply follow the submission guidelines below. Understand that I may need to edit any submissions and do some quality control, so it might take some time before your submissions are published.

You could be a commuter who simply wants to help other commuters find their way across the city. Or you could be a business/restaurant owner who wants to make it easier for customers to get to your establishment (a form of free advertising, to boot). Either way, you can help other people by adding to the knowledge base of this site.

Make sure to also check the Ask For Directions page in case you can answer any request for directions posted there.

Submission Guidelines

1. Directions should be about commuting using public transport within Metro Manila, or have Metro Manila as a starting point/destination.

2. In the subject line, include the starting point and the destination (e.g. "How to get to Ali Mall Cubao from Marikina" or "Marikina to Ali Mall Cubao").

3. In the body of the letter or comment, follow this format:

Contributed by: <indicate initials or alias if you wish to hide your identity>

<List down step-by-step commuting directions here>

4. Be sure to include any Tips or other helpful travel advice.

Tip #1: Refer to other directions published in the site for an idea of what information to put in.
Tip #2: As much as possible, make your start point an easily recognizable landmark so that it's easier for commuters to imagine the route.

About This Site

Google Maps can easily show you almost any place where you need to go. But what if you're not familiar with the place and you need to use public transport?

I was born and raised in Metro Manila, but I still find myself having to ask for directions from friends and family when I need to go to a place they are familiar with that I haven't been to before (and the reverse is also true).

Whether you're a city native going into an unfamiliar part of the city or a tourist who wants to get around, if you are a commuter, then this site is for you. This is not just a site where you can look up directions to a place where you want to go. It's a place where commuters can help other commuters find the best public transport routes to reach their destinations.

To commute in Metro Manila is to immerse oneself in a melange of noise, barely organized chaos and stress. Make a difference by helping other commuters when you Submit Directions, especially in answer to those who Ask For Directions.

Currently a one-man operation, it will take time for me to continuously update this site. But keep visiting because this site will always grow and I'll keep adding directions based on the most efficient public transport routes to take in Metro Manila.

I hope that with the participation of other commuters out there, we can help each other make commuting in Metro Manila, if not fun, at least more bearable.

Disclaimer

Local city governments and the MMDA can implement changes in traffic ordinances and management at any time. These changes may affect traffic routes, loading/unloading zones and even the locations of terminals. As such, these changes may not always be immediately reflected on this site, so please take note of this when planning your trip.
