How to Commute to Mendiola (University Belt Area) from Alabang

Option 1: via SLEX

1. From Alabang Town Center, get on any jeep going to Alabang Starmall/Metropolis.
2. Get down at the loading/unloading point at Starmall and wait for a bus going to Lawton.

Note: The Lawton buses also pick up passengers there at the loading/unloading point so you don't need to move from where you got down, though you may need to wait for a few minutes.

3. Tell the conductor that you will get off at the corner of Quirino and Taft Ave. The bus stop is along Taft Ave. itself, just a few meters from the corner of Quirino and Taft.
4. From the bus stop, walk back and cross to the other side of Quirino Ave. (where Jollibee is) so that you can get onto the LRT-1 Quirino Ave. station.

Note: Although there's a stairway to the station near the bus stop, it's blocked off at the top so you really need to take the long way. Besides, it's a chance for you to grab a short bite or use the restroom at Jollibee since there is no restroom in the LRT station.

5. Ride the LRT train going to Monumento and get off at Doroteo Jose station.
6. At Doroteo Jose station, use the elevated walkway that connects Doroteo Jose station to LRT-2 Recto station (walkway entrance is on the same side as where you will exit the train).
7. At Recto station, exit on the other side where the flow of traffic is going to Cubao.
8. Just outside Recto station, get on any jeep going to Cubao and tell the driver you will be getting down at Mendiola.
9. From Recto, the jeep will make a left turn into Legarda St. so just get down at the corner after the jeep makes the turn. That corner is already Mendiola St. cor. Legarda.
10. Once at Mendiola St., you can take a pedicab or just walk to your destination. There are also Bacood / Quiapo jeeps that make the rounds along Mendiola and Tuberias Streets.

Option 2: via Alabang-Zapote Road

Note: The SLEX route is generally recommended because it's faster, but here's an alternate route for reference (or in case you'll be starting from deep in Las Pinas or near Zapote).

1. From Alabang Town Center, cross to the other side of Alabang-Zapote Road and wait for the bus going to Lawton or Sta. Cruz.
2. Tell the conductor you will be getting down at the corner of Buendia and Taft Ave.
3. Wait for the bus to make the turn into Taft and then get down.
4. Get onto the LRT-1 Gil Puyat (Buendia) station and ride the train going to Monumento. Get off at Doroteo Jose station.
5. At Doroteo Jose station, use the elevated walkway that connects Doroteo Jose station to LRT-2 Recto station (walkway entrance is on the same side as where you will exit the train).
