How to Commute to Alabang from Lucena

Start Point: Lucena Bayan
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: Merchant St. > Hermana Fausta St. > Quezon Avenue > Tayabas-Lucena-Road > Pan-Philippine Highway (Maharlika Highway) > SLEX > Starmall premises > Alabang-Zapote Road

Estimated travel time: 3-4 hours depending on traffic

1. Get on any jeep with placard "Lucena Grand Terminal."
2. At the bus terminal, make your way to the buses with placard "Alabang-Starmall." If you're facing the Jollibee at the terminal, go through that hallway and turn right at the end. This route is serviced by N. Dela Rosa Liner.
3. Once the bus reaches Alabang, it will first pass by Alabang-Starmall before proceeding to Alabang South Station. You can get off at either point depending on your eventual destination.

How to Commute to Lucena from Alabang

Start Point: Alabang South Station
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: Alabang-Zapote Road > SLEX > Pan-Philippine Highway (Maharlika Highway)

Estimated travel time: 3-4 hours depending on traffic

1. The provincial bus terminal in South Station is located on the side nearest the Alabang exit of SLEX. If you're on Alabang-Zapote Road facing South Station, it's a straight line towards the very rear of South Station.
2. The bus line servicing this route is N. Dela Rosa Liner. Get on any of its buses going to Lucena (they're parked beside the public restroom).

Note: You have a choice of aircon or non-aircon buses. For comfort and convenience, go with the aircon bus but if you're on a budget, the non-aircon bus has a slightly cheaper fare.

3. Tell the conductor to drop you off at Lucena. You can get off at the intersection of the Pan-Philippine Highway and the Tayabas-Lucena Road.

Landmark: A Jollibee store sits at the corner, and the conductor will also inform you that you can already get down. (See it in Google Maps)

Note: That portion of the Pan-Philippine Highway is also called the Lucena Diversion Road. So sometimes you'll hear the conductor yell, "Diversion Road, pa-bayan!" That's your cue to get down.

4. Once you get down, there are already jeeps in the area heading to Lucena Bayan.

Note: You can keep riding the bus and get down at Lucena Grand Terminal. There are jeeps there also heading to Lucena Bayan but they will also make their turn at the area mentioned in Step 3. So you may as well shortcut the process by following Step 3 above.

How to Commute to Trinoma from Greenhills

Start point: Virramall
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: Ortigas Avenue > EDSA (bus / MRT-3)

1. At the main exit of Virramall fronting Ortigas Avenue (where the buses and jeeps coming from EDSA drop passengers off to Virramall), use the pedestrian overpass nearby to cross the street.
2. Once on the other side, there is a jeepney terminal at the base of the overpass.
3. Tell the driver you will get down at EDSA. The jeep will usually stop beside the POEA building and from there it's a short walk to the corner of EDSA and Ortigas Avenue.

Note 1: It's possible to walk towards Ortigas station but it's a long walk.

Note 2: You could actually just cross EDSA from where you are towards Robinson's Galleria and take a bus, but with so many stops and traffic along EDSA, it's better to just take the MRT.

6. Get off at the end of the MRT line at North Avenue station. Beside the station is Trinoma Mall.

How to Commute to SM Southmall from Makati

Start point: SM Makati
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: Palm Drive > EDSA > Magallanes interchange > SLEX (Skyway) > Alabang-Zapote Road

Option 1: via bus

1. At the bus stop outside SM Makati underneath the Ayala-MRT station, wait for any bus going to Alabang Metropolis / South Station.

Note: You can also ride the bus going to Pacita as long as it also has the Starmall / Metropolis placard (Pacita / Derecho buses will bypass Alabang exit). But Pacita buses will not pass by South Station and you will need to get down just beyond the Alabang exit tollgate and walk further going to South Station. You may as well just wait for a bus that will pass South Station itself.

2. Get off at South Station and make your way to the jeepney terminal where jeepneys going to Zapote are parked.
3. You may ride the jeeps with the following placards:

- Las Pinas
- Zapote Kabila
- Baclaran Coastal

- Casimiro
- Moonwalk

Option 2: via FX

1. From SM Makati, cross Palm Drive to get to Park Square building (it's on the same side of the road as Dusit Thani Hotel).

How to Commute to Alabang from Greenhills

Start Point: Virramall
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: EDSA (MRT-3 / bus) > Magallanes Interchange > SLEX / Skyway

4. From this point, you have two options: take the bus all the way to Alabang, or use the MRT-3 to get to Ayala Avenue station so that you can skip most of the traffic in EDSA.

Via bus (only one ride to Alabang but ideal during days of light traffic on EDSA such as Sundays)

a. You can wait for a bus in front of the POEA building, but if there's an MMDA enforcer he will direct you to the bus stop about 30 more meters away, in front of a 24-hour convenience store.
b. Get on any bus with placards "Alabang-Metropolis / South Station" or "Pacita / Alabang-Starmall"

Caution: Don't get on any "Pacita Derecho" bus because it will bypass Alabang.

c. Pacita-bound buses will drop you off just after the tollgate beside the Alabang viaduct, while South Station-bound buses will drop you off inside Alabang South Station.

Via MRT-3 (more walking and more transfers but helps you skip most of the traffic in EDSA)

a. Get on any southbound (i.e. headed to Makati) bus and get off at the MRT-3 Ortigas Avenue station.

Note: If you want to save on bus fare you can just walk to the MRT-3 station but it's a long walk.

b. At the Ortigas Avenue station, get on the southbound train and get off at MRT-3 Ayala station.
c. Exit Ayala station on the same side as SM Makati to get to the bus waiting station underneath Ayala Avenue station.
d. Get on any bus with placards "Alabang-Metropolis / South Station" or "Pacita / Alabang-Starmall"

Caution: Don't get on any "Pacita Derecho" bus because it will bypass Alabang.

e. Pacita-bound buses will drop you off just after the tollgate beside the Alabang viaduct, while South Station-bound buses will drop you off inside Alabang South Station.

How to Commute to Greenhills from MRT-3 Ayala Avenue station

Start Point: MRT-3 Ayala Avenue station
Go to Route Index
List of PUV Terminals

Route used: EDSA (MRT-3 / bus) > Robinson's Galleria premises > Ortigas Avenue

1. At the MRT-3 Ayala Avenue station, take the northbound train (headed to North Avenue station) and get off at Ortigas station.
2. From MRT-3 Ortigas station, make your way to SM Megamall Building C (the building where Convergys is located; it's attached to Building A, the building nearest the MRT station).
3. At the ground floor level of Building C is the bus stop. Get on any bus with the "Ortigas Ilalim" placard.

Caution: Usually it's the "B"-marked buses that have "Ortigas Ilalim" but a rare few will have "Ortigas Flyover" instead. If you get on a bus with the "Ortigas Flyover" placard it will take the Ortigas flyover and totally bypass your destination, Robinson's Galleria.

4. Get off at Robinson's Galleria. For comfort, go through Robinson's Galleria and exit the mall on the side facing Ortigas Avenue. It's easier if you pass through the food court and exit near where the Chowking and Handyman are located.
5. After exiting Robinson's Galleria, cross Ortigas Avenue (via the pedestrian crossing underneath the flyover) and get on any jeep or bus with placards "San Juan / Greenhills", "SM Sta. Mesa", "Quiapo" and so forth.

Note: Some jeeps and buses park on the side of the road and wait until they are almost full before leaving. So if you have a choice, wait for passing jeeps that just drop off passengers to decrease your waiting time.

6. Tell the driver to drop you off at Virramall (it will be on the right side of the road).

2. At the base of the station along EDSA, wait for the jeeps with placards "Alabang-Metropolis".

Caution: Ride those jeeps with the placard "Kanan". The jeeps with "Kaliwa" placards will use East Service Road and it will result in a more roundabout route for you.

3. Tell the driver to drop you off at Northgate.

Note: This is the intersection where the West Service Road becomes Alabang-Zapote Road. The Convergys building is in one corner so it's a very clear landmark. This is also the intersection where the jeep makes its U-turn to get to Alabang-Metropolis. (See it on Google Maps)

4. From where you get down, cross the street towards the Convergys building and wait for jeeps at the side of the building fronting Alabang-Zapote Road.

Depending on where in Madrigal Business Park your destination is, you can get off at any of the following points (landmarks will be at the right side of the road unless indicated otherwise):

This trip applies to those who need to get their NBI clearance. Although there are many NBI satellite offices within Metro Manila, the NBI Head Office still has the fastest processing time so for me it's worth the effort to go there.

5. At LRT-1 EDSA station, get on the train headed to Monumento station. From the direction you're walking from, it will be on the same side as where you are so you don't need to cross to the other side of the station.

Caution: Pickpockets are more prevalent at the LRT-1 so be extra vigilant of your belongings.

6. Get off at LRT-1 United Nations station and cross to the other side of Taft Avenue. Once at the other side, you should now be at the corner of U.N. Avenue and Taft Avenue.
7. If you're on U.N. Avenue walking towards Roxas Blvd./Manila Bay, the NBI processing center will be on the left side of the street. If you're on the same side of the street as Manila Doctor's Hospital, you'll need to cross the street to get to the NBI processing center.

List of PUV Terminals

1. Get on the buses with the following placards:

Note: Do not get on the buses with placards "Pacita Derecho" because these will bypass Alabang and you won't be able to get off.

a.  Alabang / Metropolis / South Station placard - you get off at Alabang South Station.
b. Alabang Starmall / Pacita placard - you will be deposited underneath the Alabang viaduct near the Alabang public market.

To get to the jeepney terminals at South Station, just keep walking until you reach the first corner, then turn right towards the public market. Keep walking until you reach the T-intersection and at your right will be South Station (landmark: KFC at the corner).

Wait for a bus at the same side of the plaza as the Chinatown arch. The buses will be turning around the plaza for the return trip. You can ride the buses with the following placards:

     a. Alabang Town Center (ATC)
     b. SM Southmall

Whether you get down at ATC or at SM Southmall, you can proceed to Alabang South Station or Alabang Metropolis if you need to.

To get to Alabang South Station

Get on a jeep with the placard "Alabang South Station"

To get to Alabang Metropolis

Get on a jeep with the placard "Alabang Starmall Derecho" or "Alabang Metropolis"

Note: Some jeeps don't enter the Starmall-Metropolis premises, forcing you to get down past the mall and on the far side from where the bus terminals are.

As an option, you can instead get down at the Jollibee along Alabang-Zapote Road (beside the Alabang police and fire station), walk towards the Alabang viaduct and then cross the pedestrian overpass. At the other side you'll find yourself beside the bus terminal in Starmall-Metropolis.

List of PUV Terminals

Route used: Alabang-Zapote Road > Coastal Road > Roxas Blvd. > Buendia Ave. > Taft Ave. > Padre Burgos Ave. > MacArthur Bridge > Bustos Street

1.  At Alabang South Station, make your way to the loading areas of the jeeps with placards going to:

a. Zapote
b. Las Pinas
c. SM Southmall
d. Baclaran

You can get on any of the above jeeps.
2.   Get down across SM Southmall.
      3.   Wait for the buses with placards "Sta. Cruz" or "Lawton."

Bus headed to Sta. Cruz

Tell the conductor that you're headed for Sta. Cruz and get down at the plaza rotonda in front of Sta. Cruz church (the farthest extent of the bus route).

At one side of the plaza you will see the welcome arch to Chinatown, and that is already Ongpin Street. Get on that street in order to enter the heart of Binondo.

Bus headed to Lawton

1. Once on the bus, tell the conductor you will get down along Taft Avenue. I suggest getting down at U.N. Avenue because there is a McDonalds and Jollibee store there where you can use the restroom before the next part of your commute.
2. After getting down from the bus, get on any jeep that has a placard "Sta. Cruz" or "Sta. Cruz - Simbahan."
3. Alight from the jeep just after it crosses MacArthur Bridge. You will need to walk by Sta. Cruz church until you reach the plaza with the welcome arch to Chinatown.

Route used: Alabang-Zapote Road > Coastal Road > Roxas Blvd. > Buendia Ave. > Taft Ave. > Padre Burgos Ave. > MacArthur Bridge > Bustos Street

If you are facing ATC from Alabang-Zapote Road, go to the parking lot at the leftmost portion of ATC. At the parking lot you can get on the bus with placards "Sta. Cruz Manila" or "Lawton."

Note: You may need to wait some time before the next bus arrives.

Bus headed to Sta. Cruz

This is just one ride for you. Simply state that you're headed for Sta.

For this route you need two rides.
  3. Alight from the jeep after it crosses MacArthur Bridge. You will need to walk by Sta. Cruz church until you reach the plaza with the welcome arch to Chinatown.
